The way I work
No two people arrive in therapy with the same story. That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
Our work begins by taking time to understand what has brought you to therapy, how your difficulties have developed, and what you hope might change. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we explore the emotional patterns, relationships, and experiences that may lie beneath them. Understanding these patterns often creates the space for lasting change.
I offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where you can speak openly and honestly. Alongside support, I will gently challenge you when it feels helpful, encouraging greater self-awareness, confidence, and emotional freedom.
My work is informed by psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive behavioural, and Adlerian psychotherapy. Rather than following a single model, I draw on these approaches in a way that is responsive to your individual needs, ensuring therapy feels personal rather than prescriptive.
Over the past two decades, I have worked across the NHS, private practice, higher education, and the charity sector. Alongside my clinical work, I have lectured in counselling and served as a trustee for a large mental health charity, experiences that continue to inform my practice today.
How Long Will Therapy Last?
There is no fixed answer to this, because every person's circumstances are different.
Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they would like to understand or resolve and find that short-term counselling meets their needs. Others choose longer-term psychotherapy, allowing time to explore deeper patterns that have developed over many years and continue to influence their relationships, emotions, and sense of self.
During our first meeting, we'll discuss what feels right for you. Whether we work together for a few months or over a longer period, therapy will progress at a pace that respects both your goals and your readiness for change.
